Was anyone a teenager in the 50's, 60's, or 70's?

Hi! I need to talk with some people were were teenagers in the 50's, 60's, or 70's for a high school english school assignment.

The assignment is the study of "cool" and how the view of what's "cool" has changed over the years.

If you grew up in any of these decades, I would love your help! All you have to do is answer these questions:

1. What was considered "cool" when you were a teenager? (Things like appearance (clothes %26amp; hair). What were the "cool" kids of school like? What would make someone cool or popular? What were "in" things to own? ect...anything you can think of!)

2. What celebrities were considered "cool" when you were a teen?

3. (This is kind of a weird question) What is considered "cool" for your generation RIGHT NOW? If you saw someone your age, what things might make them "cool"? (Ex: If you're a soccer mom, what would you have to be like to be the "coolest" of the soccer moms?)

If you could leave your first and last name that would be great! Thanks

Well my mum and father were both teenagers of the 60's in the USSR. I'm a curious person so I've basically already asked similar questions to them about this.

1) My father enjoyed listing to 'Russian rock'- ( the name referred to Rock music made in Russia and/or in Russian. Rock and roll became known in the Soviet Union in the 1960s and quickly broke free from its western roots.)

And of course 'Melodiya.' In both my parents schools whomever had the best grades was the most popular.

It閳ユ獨 hard to speak about fashion in Soviet Union.

The production of clothes, was in the hands of the State.

So there was not much choice. All stylish clothes from the Western world countries were forbidden.

People wearing such clothes were called 閳ユ笩tilyaga閳?

( 'dandy' with very negative connotation). But still within these strict moral borders, there was a fashion in Soviet Union.

You know, the high hair sprayed hair, nail polish and tight fitting knee high dresses for the girls and sleeked hair and jeans for the boys.

2) Yuri Gagarin. Most everyone thought him a hero.

My mum had a crush on him too. Who wouldn't? :P

Also there was Vladimir Vysotsky, and Bulat Okudzhava.

Many of the politicians were the most popular of 'celebrities.'

Then olympic winners and movie stars were a close second.

I've forgotten most of their names. Well actually it will be to hard and long to write all them.

3) My parents don't even know what 'cool' means.

But if your successful in life then you are to be admired.

I wish I was a teenager in the 70's, I am so infatuated with that era....but I can try to answer the question.

1. Bell bottoms were in, polyester, plaid, Afro's, and platforms. The cool kids in school were the jocks and cheerleaders. And the item to own was a record player....or a 8 track in your car.

2. Pam Grier! and some lady named Bo Derek.
