Why is it okay for Older Celebrities to still be stylish but not normal people?

I loved my origonal style. I love the feeling you get when you get to be outstanding and not just the soccor mom. I love the fact t at my husband thinks it's cool my hair is bright shades of red, blue and pink. I love my chucks and dont want to give them up for anything. Cant live without my Dr. Martins, and razor dogs. But why does so many people think just because you are a family woman with kids and over 29 you supposed to suddenly be boring and lifeless. Why do so many woman just do it because they are now expected to do so. WHy do so many woman give up thier looks just because? I dont want to, I want to be the person I have grown to love. Why is imuture if youe hair is dark blue and you have kids? Please help. I am wondering if it is only an American thing. You always see woman and men still dressing the way they want to in other parts of the world like Great Brittan and Austrailia. Please help me understand..

You do you if you want to dye your hair whatever color and you are okay with then to H E double hockey sticks with whoever doesnt like it. You're not hurting anybody, so if it makes you feel good about yourself I say go for it.

I really don't think you need to understand all you need to do is be yourself. if you want the blue hair, chucks or doc martins than wear them, and if other people are judging or criticizing you than they have the problem with vanity and a lack of fashion sense. If you are happy and your husband is happy, than thats all that matters.

It's called dressing "age-appropriate".

As you grow older, you're expected to be more sophisticated than a teen who would dye their hair odd colors or wear clothes from the Junior dept. What's stylish for a teen/20-something doesn't really apply to older folks because the style is intended for the vibrancy/wildness of youth, although with a wise eye you can still wear certain pieces and make them look great. Older ladies can still be trendy and sexy, but in a different way... when they're still dressing like they did 30 years ago, it presents an image of a person who is in denial of their age and/or lacks the sophistication they should have. Embrace your age and the sophistication that you have earned in your years!

--EDIT-- Well, you're only two years younger than I am. The age appropriateness still applies though, only not to such a severe degree. The hair/youth clothing isn't a very professional look... and that also plays a big factor in how people perceive you (people may assume that you're not successful because most "serious" jobs frown upon that type of appearance and at your age you should have your career figured out %26amp; be working on advancing it). Once again, okay for a kid who's not serious about their career/life yet, but no so much for a successful "career woman" in her 30's.

I would dress like young British people, were it not for the fact that the clothes young people wear here are TRASHY and HORRIBLE... basically sports gear/tracksuits and trainers, or jeans that hang off their butts like they've just become anorexic and didn't have a small enough belt. I wear my jeans at the proper height like the guy in the Levis commercial who strips off in the launderette. Although my jeans are Ralph Lauren Polo, they are button front! They show off my butt properly.

But you dress how you like, I'm all for that :) I know what you're saying exactly. But please excuse me for not dressing young for the above reasons lol...

BTW You sound like a cool Mom... a real dudess!
