I watching a show on TV and it showed children racist as young as 4 years?

there was this show on with quarnel x..(don't know how to spell his name)..anyway they gave all white/hispanic kids dolls...and asked them which one looks the best..all the kids picked the white doll because they said the black one looked dirty..and they asked the black kids the same question they choosed the white doll because they say she had "good hair"...do you consider this racism are the way the kids were raised....all comments appreciated even the negative ones...thanks for your time

It could be the way a child is rasied, because I have a grand daughter, who was in kindergatren and she her little friend fredrick was into it over some silly child thing.. she was telling her mom, but her mom had not met fredrick, so she ask her to describe him, and after about 5 minutes she got frustrated and told her mom, he the one with the real dark sun tan. she had never heard the word african Americain, Chinese, Hispanic, to her we are all the same we are all human, and that all that counts I was so pleased with my daughter, teachings.. it is not the color of our skin that makes us who we are, it is what that inside of us. I have friends from all races, I don't understand a lot of their culture, no more than they understand mine, I am who I am, and I would never let them knock mine, and I would never knock theirs, You don't get to choose your color or race, we should just be who God made us, and leave race out of ever issue, If you are Black White or Mexicain, Don't be angry at the next man because he cannot help his race or color no more than you can. Just get along the best you can and be happy. You should never teach a child to hate color or race,Just watch how well they get along, You will learn a lot , remember ,If you plan on going to heaven, we are all going to be the same,as now, and God don't make no junk. So be happy. love one another. It is the actions of men that can be so mean not the color of skin..and all races have these.

Children Learn What They Live

by Dorothy Law Nolte

If a child lives with criticism. He learns to condemn.

If a child lives with hostility. He learns to fight.

If a child lives with ridicule. He learns to be shy.

If a child lives with shame. He learns to feel guilty.

If a child lives with tolerance. He learns to be patient.

If a child lives with encouragement. He learns confidence.

If a child lives with praise. He learns to appreciate.

If a child lives with fairness. He learns justice.

If a child lives with security. He learns to have faith.

If a child lives with approval. He learns to like himself.

If a child lives with acceptance and friendship.

He learns to find love in the world.

there cud be many reasons, my lil cousins are only 5 and 6 and when they see black people, sometimes they say eww.....our family and their parents are not racist, in fact we r completely against it. it ***** be the parents in this case, maybe they get it from schools, i dont know.

It's conditioning. Although other races are more than widely accepted these days, how many minorities are on TV, in the media and in movies? Some but whites still reign supreme.

I think that can send a subtle message to kids, and adults as well, that it's more 'normal' to be white because that is what we most often see selling us products and singing pop songs.

It shouldn't be this way, it's very worrying. Not sure if it's blatantly racist but it sure as hell is breeding a preference..

Well ya know, racist ideology begins in the home. The dynamic is very complicated. I believe that most families really try not to verbalize their prejudice, but it emerges in subtle ways. Children are like sponges. They may look like they are preoccupied with their games, but they miss nothing. I also believe that racist ideology is very difficult to eliminate in the individual cultures that make this nation so rich. My solution for the resolution of these preconceptions is for everyone to honestly identify the reason they continue to emit racist slurs, and to look at the accuracy of their reason for believing.

This is hard because not all kids go through these studies. They also can see $100 bill and 10 one dollar bills and think the 10 dollars is more than the $100. So not sure about that study I wouldn't say it was racist because the black kids also picked the white dolls. Who really knows. Could be parents, tv, society who knows. I really don't think there was any hate in their heart when this study was conducted. That's when it becomes a problem.

They have also done studies with overweight people and the children would always say that the skinny person was happier, prettier, nicer, etc...

If they had a Donald Trump doll, I'm sure all the kids would pick the black girl doll.

I agree with Cyn City. It's a matter of perception. Racism is when you hate someone because of their skin colour, not when you prefer someone as the most beautiful.

My fiance is spanish and chinese and my niece didn't like him at first because he looks different. That's not racist, she just wasn't used to his "look". Now she knows him and loves him. I never condemned her for her opinion.

You don't have to like everything.
